Pokémon GO: Best Pokémon Tier List

Our Pokémon GO tier list ranks the best attackers, defenders, and PvP picks for October 2026. Find the strongest Pokémon for raids, gyms, and every league.

Last updated:

There are Pokémon of various types in Pokémon GO, but if you're looking for the best Pokémon to use for gym battles, raids, and GO Battle League, you'll find that most just don't cut it for PoGo raids. Here's our Pokémon GO tier list of the strongest Pokémon that are worth your Candy and Stardust.

How We Rank

Different raid battles, including mega raids, call for varying considerations. DPS and TDO for raids, bulk for gym defense and best defenders, and win rates for GO Battle League. Versatility matters across content. Along with these, we also cross-reference raid rankings, league data, and attacker lists.

But if you want the best Pokémon right away, consider Pokémon accounts from igitems to skip the grind.

Meta Overview

The current Pokémon GO meta is defined by a striking mix of Gigantamax forms and powerful legendaries. Dusk Mane Necrozma reigns supreme at the top, while Gigantamax variants saturate the middle tiers. Mega Lucario provides a non-Gigantamax alternative in A Tier, and Dynamax representation is minimal, appearing only at the very bottom.

S Tier

S Tier belongs exclusively to Dusk Mane Necrozma, and it earns that distinction decisively. This Psychic/Steel legendary fusion is the single most dominant force in the current meta, combining extraordinary bulk with devastating offensive pressure that few Pokémon can withstand. Its Steel typing grants it a remarkable defensive profile, shrugging off threats that would cripple other top-tier options, while its Psychic-type attacks hit with punishing force. Whether you are pushing raid content or climbing PvP ladders, Dusk Mane Necrozma operates on a different level than everything else in the pool. Investment here is never wasted.

A Tier

A Tier houses two strong but distinct options: Gigantamax Inteleon and Mega Lucario. Gigantamax Inteleon is a formidable Water-type attacker whose G-Max move delivers consistent, high-value damage across both raid and PvP scenarios, making it one of the most reliable Gigantamax investments available outside of S Tier. Mega Lucario, meanwhile, represents the best non-Gigantamax option in the upper ranks, leveraging its Fighting/Steel typing and Mega-boosted Attack stat to punch well above its weight class. Together, these two cover a broad range of offensive niches and remain excellent choices for players looking to build a competitive roster.

B Tier

B Tier is the most crowded tier on the list, packed with six entries: Gigantamax Inteleon, Gigantamax Inteleon, Gigantamax Gengar, Gigantamax Kingler, Gigantamax Rillaboom, and Crowned Sword Zacian. The multiple Gigantamax Inteleon entries signal strong role overlap within this band. Gigantamax Gengar brings Ghost-type burst damage, Gigantamax Kingler offers powerful Water-type pressure, and Gigantamax Rillaboom contributes solid Grass-type utility. Crowned Sword Zacian is the tier's lone legendary, providing reliable Fairy/Steel coverage that keeps it competitive despite the Gigantamax-heavy company surrounding it.

C Tier

C Tier is anchored by a mix of iconic Gigantamax starters and one legendary outlier. Gigantamax Charizard, Gigantamax Venusaur, and Gigantamax Blastoise represent the classic Kanto trio, each offering decent G-Max utility but falling short of the consistency found in higher tiers. Gigantamax Toxtricity adds an Electric/Poison angle with situational value, while Eternatus stands as the only true legendary in this tier, delivering respectable damage output that keeps it from sliding further down the rankings despite stiff competition above.

D Tier

D Tier contains a single entry: Gardevoir Dynamax. As the only standard Dynamax form on the entire list, it immediately stands apart from the Gigantamax-heavy field above it. Without access to a G-Max move, Gardevoir Dynamax lacks the raw ceiling of its peers, making it a fringe option at best. It retains some niche utility thanks to Gardevoir's Fairy-type coverage, but investment here is difficult to justify given the stronger alternatives available at every tier above.

Building Your Pokémon GO Roster

After checking on the tier list, build your top raid attackers first as the best Pokémon GO attackers to power up to help catch more legendaries. The Primals and Rayquaza, with the highest CP among raid attackers, are currently the absolute best Pokémon to power up for gym or raid content, and Crowned Sword Zacian for Master League.

If you're looking to take a shortcut and skip the grind, igitems offers PokéCoins to help you participate in raids through raid passes and remote raid bundles. This Pokémon GO guide is updated regularly, so check back again for the latest news about meta.
